Roadmap to the Future
Share |

At SAMPE North America, our core purpose is to foster excellence in the materials and processing community.

Our core values which support our purpose are these:

-          Knowledge transfer

-          Creativity and innovation

-          Professional engagement and inclusion

-          Absolute integrity

And our long-term envisioned future is this:  SAMPE is pivotal to every new material innovation and process solution.

So, how do we get there?

Three task forces have been identified.  These groups are creating short term (1 – 3 years) and mid-range (3 – 5 years) action plans for consideration by the SAMPE Board of Directors.

Task Force A - Relevance to Corporations and Government

Strategic corporate and government entities recognize SAMPE leadership, directly engage with SAMPE North America and support employee participation as vital to success.

Task Force B - Emerging Technologies

Expanding beyond composites, SAMPE North America is the authority for current and emerging materials and processing technologies and solutions.

Task Force C - Information and Expertise

SAMPE North America is the preferred choice for credible materials and processing information and expertise.  This task force will work to improve knowledge transfer to all ages.

How is this accomplished?

Our task forces first met in Dallas, October 2015, at the CAMX meeting.  They creating lists of both short and medium range goals.  Now, those lists need to be prioritized and determine if any resources (financial or staffing) are needed.

Question: What if our proposed activities do require support from either staff or require budget?

Once the task force(s) can estimate the type of activity they want to prioritize, they should contact the executive director for assistance in completing their proposals.  The task force(s) do want to be mindful of the deadlines to get proposals funded.  These are detailed below.

Question:  What if our proposal activities do NOT require additional staff or budgetary support?

Those activities can be included in the task force(s) report to the SAMPE North America Board of Directors for discussion and approval.

Timetables for Approval of Activities Requiring Staff Time or Budget

Like things in life, early notification is always best.  This is the Fiscal Year 2016-2017 planning calendar:

December 2015 – January 2016  Staff begins to draft budget

February 2016 - North America Executive Cabinet reviews 1st draft of budget.  New requests for staffing or funding are due at this meeting.

April 2016 - Final draft budget sent to the North America Board of Directors for review

May 2016 - Budget (and activities) are approved for FY 2017
